This training is for people developmental and intellectual disabilities.
Sexuality is a basic part of being human, and sexual development begins when you are born and continues throughout your life. Many people with disabilities struggle with discussing the topic of relationships, intimacy, sexuality and safety. Thus, it is necessary to empower caregivers so they can empower the people they care about.
People with a developmental disabilities deserve to learn about their physical, emotional, and social growth as it relates to their sexual development. You should have the freedom to ask questions and be supported to learn in an environment that is non-judgmental, free of fear, shame, and exploitation. This will be an open and honest discussion about your sexuality and supporting your family member or caregivers.
Approved for 2 SW General CEU hours by Louisiana Welfare Training Academy as authorized by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners
and for 2 Legal CLE hours by Louisiana State Bar Association.
Training will be cancelled and rescheduled if minimum registration number of 15 participants is not met.
Learning Objectives:
Outcome 1: Participants will increase knowledge about how disability impacts sexual development.
Outcome 2: Participants will increase knowledge about responses to questions about sexuality.
Outcome 3: Participants will increase knowledge to support healthy sexuality for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities including informed consent, safety, and protection.

People with (Self-Advocates) Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities
Attendees must pre-register online. There is no fee to register.
On-site registration is not available.
