Webinar — Fostering Education from Home — Part II: Applying Strategies in the Real World
Wednesday, June 10, 2020 — 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. EDT
With children out of school and at home, caregivers have been asked to assume many new roles and responsibilities. Among these is the role of teacher. Even under the best of circumstances, youth who have experienced foster care often have difficulty navigating the demands of school. Now, as schools move into remote learning mode, caregivers must find ways to keep their students motivated, engaged, and learning (as well as fed, entertained, and supported in coping with the traumas of this “new normal”). How can we create routines that allow us to help our kids with assignments and virtual classes? Part I of this two-part webinar session will offer research-informed strategies that caregivers, social workers, educators, and advocates can implement to address some of the common challenges that arise with schooling from home. Part II of this webinar will focus on practice and implementation of the practical tools for parents and caregivers introduced in Part I.
