The direction a Child in Need of Care (CINC) case takes early on often determines where the case will go in the long run and what the impact will be on the child and family. Preserving family connections, maximizing parent and child engagement, and ensuring that case plan strategies are strictly tailored to enhance parental protective capacity so that permanency can be achieved as soon as possible are key strategies that best practice indicates should be addressed as soon after removal as possible.
In partnership with Orleans Parish Juvenile Court, the Pelican Center is offering a follow-up CINC training focused on the first 30 days of a case. We welcome you to join us in taking a deeper dive into the topics of safety and trauma, protective orders and safety plans, family time (visitation), the Interstate Compact on Placement of Children (ICPC), and Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA).
