Virtual Visitation: What Courts Should Know

We know visits are critical to successful reunification, but the pandemic has upended typical visitation practices. There is an extensive body of research on the use of virtual visitation between children and their families in other populations that we can apply to the field of child welfare. This webinar, featuring Georgetown Professor Dr. Rachel Barr, will summarize existing research on how to sustain parent-child relationships through virtual visitation, with a focus on how dependency court orders grounded in research can promote meaningful virtual visitation.

Dr. Rachel Barr is a professor at Georgetown University and has conducted research on media and young children for over 25 years. She has served as a consultant for Sesame Street on media and very young children. She partnered with the Youth Law Center to create a media-based intervention for incarcerated teen parents.

This webinar begins at 9:30 am Pacific / 11:30 am Central / 12:30 pm Eastern [60 minutes].
